Canadian Western Bank (CWB) has updated its Debit Card and PIN Agreement to meet the requirements set out by the Canadian Code of Practice for Consumer Debit Card Services. We have added important information including how to slect and protect your PIN (Person Identification Number) and debit card, and how to address any transaction problems including unauthorized transactions. A copy of the agreement is available at any CWB branch or by clicking on the following link:
Information is also available in our brochure Debit Cards: Understanding Responsibilities & Liability. A copy is available at all branches. If you have any questions about the brochure or about using your debit card, please contact your branch.
We have recently been made aware that some client's debit cards are not retaining information in their magnetic strips and therefore, cannot be read when you attempt to make a point of sale purchase or an Automated Banking Machine (ABM) transaction. If you have been having difficulties with your card, please request a replacement from your branch. We have enhanced our card type with a new version that should eliminate this issue.
We also want to remind you that Canadian Western Bank is a member of THE EXCHANGE® Network, a national ABM network. One of the benefits for you is that you can use the ABMs of the member institutions without surcharge. You can also make deposits to your Canadian Western Bank account in addition to withdrawals. Additional details about THE EXCHANGE® Network, including locations of member ABMs, can be found on their website at www.the-exchange.ca.
