Diverse and experienced team spearheads better business banking in Ontario

CWB's first branch in the GTA draws on more than 200 years of combined experience to challenge the status quo in one of Canada's most dynamic markets.

The Greater Toronto Area is about to learn that CWB’s first physical location in Ontario comes with deep knowledge of the local business community, a team with two centuries of combined financial services experience, and a drive to challenge the market status quo. Mississauga Branch Manager Mark Stafford, a veteran of 26 years in the industry, knows clients need more from their bank in these uncertain times. With this brand new location, the Mississauga team is eager to help clients with their proactive, focused approach to business banking, personal banking and wealth management needs.

“Our first location may be new to the region, but our team has lived and worked in banking here for years,” Mark says. “We know how the traditional banks operate here, we know the key industries and we have established relationships,” alluding to the fact that one-third of CWB’s total loan portfolio that exists in Ontario. “Business owners these days need a bank that can quickly respond to a new challenge or opportunity – that’s what we offer.”

The Mississauga team will meet all sides of a client’s financial needs, with a special focus to solve for the complexities that face business owners.

Responsiveness and expertise are central to helping clients, and the group has deep expertise - like these four:

  • Aneil D’Lima, Assistant Vice-President for Commercial Accounts draws on 14 years in commercial banking and real estate lending.
  • Dominic Didiano, Retail Banking Manager, brings 26 years in financial services and an award-winning banking resume.
  • Fatima Paulo, Manager, Client Service, has 31 years of expertise in financial services, with a focus on delivering exceptional client experiences.
  • Ani Modi, Senior Manager, Business Development is seasoned with 11 years in financial services and brings a wider perspective from his work with a large international bank.

Industry knowledge and extensive banking experience are important assets when serving both the business and personal side of banking, and so are diverse viewpoints – especially in a growing, multicultural region like Mississauga

Mark’s team collectively speaks 18 different languages, an under-the-radar skillset in a region featuring a prominent immigrant population. “Inclusion and diversity is a big part of CWB’s culture, we know that different perspectives unleash the best solutions for our people and clients,” Mark explains. “The GTA is culturally diverse, and our team reflects that.”

All businesses are affected by the uncertainty of the pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped the Mississauga branch from opening. With business owners needing a strong financial partner more than ever these days, the timing might not be better.  “We’re known for building successful relationships with business owners in good times and bad,” Mark says. “This team is ready to change what business owners should expect from their bank.”
