Infinity GiftBoxes 2 min read

Gift boxes showcase aspiring entrepreneurs

Collaborative project highlights the talents of participants in DIVERSEcity’s CWB Business Incubator for Women Entrepreneurs.

If good things come in small packages, the Infinity Giftbox is overflowing with the creativity, passion, and excitement of up-and-coming business owners.

Inside are items from Infinity Womenpreneurs, a B.C.-based business collective created by participants of DIVERSEcity’s CWB Business Incubator for Women Entrepreneurs.

“The box is a chance for us, women entrepreneurs, to thrive together,” says Alejandra Silva, owner of Ale Silva Studio, a sustainable graphic and web design service for eco-minded small businesses. “It offers us the joy of sharing our product with others and I feel like it represents our creativity and efforts to achieve our dreams."

Located in Surrey, DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is a registered charity that helps newcomers and other diverse communities build the lives they want in Canada. Infinity Womenpreneurs was launched in early 2021 with the Incubator program, and currently operates as an online marketplace.

Program coordinator Florence Kao says the idea for a gift box came with the approach of the holiday season.

“The gift box provides exposure to participants’ products, services and online presence – it’s a chance to really showcase what they’re doing and making,” says Kao. “At the beginning, many of them don’t know just how good they are and what they’re capable of. But they see their progress through the program and continually build up their entrepreneurship skills and knowledge. And through this process they gain more confidence.”

Sharleen Ali of Jewels by Maez says the past year has been quite the journey for her – and has also brought many opportunities. “In summer of 2020, I decided to start my own business and joined the program,” says Ali, who offers a collection of handmade, dainty jewelry with pieces inspired by nature, fashion, and culture. “We came together as one group of women entrepreneurs, creatives, artists and much more. Not only was this program resourceful, but the connections we made were just as important. We didn’t just collaborate or work together – we all became friends.”

Infinity Giftboxes are available as both ready-made or build-your-own. Products include artistic tote bags, sketch books and postcards, handmade candles and chocolate, dog bandanas, and jewellery.

Quite fittingly – one of the featured items is Jewels by Maez’s infinity bracelet.

“This bracelet represents us, Infinity Womenpreneurs,” says Ali. “We each have our own expertise and talents, our own story to tell. This bracelet reminds us that nothing can ever get in the way and there are no limits.”
