Steps to Sign Up for CRA Direct Deposit

Step 1:

Sign into CWBdirect Online Banking and click on “Account Services” followed by the the "Setup CRA Direct Deposit" link to enroll.

Step 2:

Confirm your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth (DOB), and enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN). 

Step 3:

Select a valid account that you would like the deposit to go into and accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement.

Step 4:

A confirmation message will be displayed that the enrollment is complete. Note this is not a confirmation that the request has been accepted by CRA.  You will need to login to your CRA - My Account for Individuals portal a minimum one business day later to confirm that the setup with CRA was successful.

What are the eligibility requirements for CRA direct deposit?
To be eligible, you must have already filed at least one income tax return and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) that does not start with 0.
If I have already signed up for CRA direct deposit, do I need to enroll again?
If you have already set up direct deposit with CRA, you do not need to re-enroll. You may confirm enrollment by contacting the CRA directly.
Why is my Social Insurance Number (SIN) a requirement for enrolling in direct deposit with CRA?
The CRA requires your SIN to ensure they’re depositing funds to the right person. The SIN provided must match what the CRA has on file.
Which account can I set up for direct deposit?
You can set up any active personal chequing or savings account.
What if I have closed the account I have enrolled with?
If you intend on closing your account, please ensure the new account information is provided to the CRA. It is suggested to keep your existing account open until you have received your first payment to your new bank account as it may already be in process or cause a possible delay.
What if my CRA payment was not deposited into my account?
You may receive cheques in the mail if they have been processed prior to completion of your CRA direct deposit enrollment. Log in to your CRA - My Account for Individuals portal to confirm that the setup with CRA was successful.
What types of payments and refunds can be directly deposited into my account?

You can have any of the following payments and refunds noted below directly deposited into your account. Canada payments are excluded from this service (ex. CPP, OAS or EI)

· Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). Learn more and apply online directly with the CRA for the CERB
