
How to set up multi-factor authentication
Multi-factor authentication, also known as 2-step verification, is a new security measure being put in place. It requires clients to add two ways to verify their identity when logging into an application or online portal. Using multi-factor authentication significantly reduces your risk of being victim of a cyber-attack.

Before you begin
Grab your bank card and your mobile device
Step 1
- Select your multi-factor authentication communication preference; it can be either SMS or voice call.
- Then, select "Set up."
Step 2
- If you picked SMS enter your mobile device phone number; if you picked voice call enter your landline phone number.
- Then, select "Send Code."
Step 3
- Enter the verification code.
- Then, select "Verify."
Step 4: You're finished!
- Select "Finish."
- Your multi-factor authentication is set up.

Before you begin
Grab mobile device.
Step 1
- If you prefer to receive your verification code via text, enter your 10-digital mobile phone number.
- Then, select “send code.”
- Or, if you prefer to receive your verification code via email, enter your email.
- Then, select “send code.”
Step 2
- Enter the verification code within 10 minutes of receiving it, or else it will no longer by valid.
- Then, select “Continue.”
Step 3: You're finished!
- Select “Continue” to access online banking.
- Your 2-Step Verification is set up.

- No there is not. cwb.digital refers to the term multi-factor authentication and CWBdirect refers to the term 2-step verification. Both determine the identity of the person logging into digital banking the same way.
Can I change how I receive my secure access code?
Yes, you can choose your preferred way to receive your access code at anytime by going to Menu > Settings.
Do I need to have a smartphone to use Multi-Factor Authentication?
No, you can choose to receive your 6-digit authentication code by voice call to any registered phone number. This includes traditional landlines.
Can I change the phone number I use for Multi-Factor Authentication. For example, if I lose my phone or change my number?
Yes, you can change the phone number by following the below steps on mobile or desktop:

Settings > “2-Step Verification Settings”
Desktop
Profile and Preferences > Change 2-Step Verification Information > Update Contact Information > select the pencil icon to edit or + icon to add > Save
