How to set up multi-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication, also known as 2-step verification, is a new security measure being put in place. It requires clients to add two ways to verify their identity when logging into an application or online portal. Using multi-factor authentication significantly reduces your risk of being victim of a cyber-attack.

  2. Your banking centre will reset your MFA.
  3. Once your MFA has been reset, login to cwb.digital and complete the steps within the guided process on the screen.

  3. Note: If 2-Step Security Login is mandatory, you'll be taken directly to that page.
Step 2: Begin Registration
  1. Click on 'Register for 2-Step Security Soft Token'.
  2. Enter your User ID and password, then click 'Submit'.
  3. The system will display a QR code to scan.
Step 4: Scan the QR Code
  1. Open Google Authenticator™ on your mobile device and use it to scan the QR code displayed.
  2. Your User ID should now be registered in the authenticator app, with a one-time security code visible beneath it.
Step 5: Input Authenticator Code
  1. Input the generated one-time code from the authenticator app (e.g. 406 401) into the "One time code" field on the Login page and click 'Submit'. This one-time code will change after some time (e.g. every 30 seconds) so ensure you enter the code that is currently displayed on the authenticator app.
Step 6: Complete Registration
  1. Input the generated one-time code into the "One time code" field on the Login page and click 'Submit'.
  2. You are now registered for 2-Step Security and will be redirected to the MDB home page!

Timely Registration Reminder

  1. Ensure you register for 2-Step Security within 14 calendar days from the time your account is created, updated, or reset.
  2. Failing to register within this period will necessitate a reset of your 2-Step Security settings following an error message upon attempted registration. You will need to contact your banking administrator for this reset.

Step 2: Log In with 2-Step Security
  1. Input your login credentials and the one-time code from the Google Authenticator app in the 'User ID', 'Password', and 'One time code' fields, respectively.
  2. Click 'Submit'.
  3. Upon successful login, you will be directed to the Business Online Banking home page.
Code Expiry Awareness
  • Use new codes: If a code is about to expire (every 30 seconds), wait for a new one to ensure a smooth login. Be mindful that one-time codes are short-lived and become invalid if not used promptly. For soft tokens (Google Authenticator), a diminishing clock icon next to the one-time code indicates time until code expiry.
  • Three consecutive incorrect one-time code entries will lock your account for 30 minutes. A subsequent three incorrect entries post-lockout will require an administrator to unlock your account in the Business User Administrator (BUA) in which you will need to contact directly.
