CWB announces support for Derks Formals with in-kind donation to future business leader groups

$5,000 in gift cards from Edmonton business victimized by thieves will go to Junior Achievement members and University of Alberta School of Business students

CWB is proud to announce that a donation of $5,000 in gift cards, purchased from Derks Formals will land in the hands of up-and-coming business professionals through Junior Achievement and the University of Alberta School of Business. Derks, a long-standing independent Edmonton clothing business, was the target of a break-and-enter in late December 2020 that resulted in thousands of dollars in damage and stolen merchandise. The donation provides a dual benefit by helping Derks recover from the incident while supporting two important community partners that groom future business leaders.

The incredible resiliency of business owners inspires CWB to extend financial support that fosters bright futures. “Derks Formals has a long and proud history of success in Edmonton, and it’s important that the business community support each other through these unpredictable times,” says CWB Jeff Wright, Senior Vice-President, Equipment, Digital & Client Solutions. “With this donation, we wish Derks a quick recovery and equip future business leaders with the professional attire they need to make the most of their next career opportunity. It’s a win-win for business, today and tomorrow.”

“When our team experienced a break-in at our new location before Christmas, our family was devastated,” says Gay Derk, President, Derks & Bridal Fantasy.CWB stepped up to make a difference, bringing in community partners at the U of A and Junior Achievement, and that means support for young leaders and an Edmonton family business. Thank-you CWB, we really appreciate your philanthropy!”
