Steve Guthrie joins Canadian Western Bank as Executive Vice President, Banking

Canadian Western Bank (CWB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Guthrie as Executive Vice President, Banking, effective June 17, 2024. In this role, Steve is responsible for leading CWB’s banking centre network across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Steve’s focus will be on the continued delivery of a high-touch banking experience that meets the unique needs of business owners and their families.

“With more than three decades of international and domestic experience in the banking sector, Steve brings incredible perspective and a collaborative leadership style,” said Stephen Murphy, Group Head, Commercial, Personal and Wealth. “His tenured ability to guide large teams will ensure our people continue to offer our clients a compelling banking experience rooted in proactive, personalized service and a deep understanding of what Canadian business owners need.”

Steve’s passion for supporting business owners to achieve their goals throughout his career in commercial banking, risk management and operations makes him a tremendous asset to our leadership team.

“Meeting with business owners to learn about their business and goals, and then offering advice and solutions designed to support their success is what excites me most about this role,” said Guthrie. “My immediate priority is to get out there, meet our teams and our clients across Canada, and find more ways to either continue or enhance how we deliver an outstanding client experience. I’m confident that if we continue to keep our clients front and centre, we will accelerate profitable and sustainable growth for CWB.”
